Using My Face

Using my nose and cheeks I manipulated the charcoal on the surface of the paper to create abstract marks. The process was yet again filmed. I like filming the duration of a work as I think it is important to document the way it was made. The final result is less important than the way this drawing was achieved : my nose and cheeks created these marks and that is what makes the composition most interesting. This is why I am thinking of having a performance piece so the audience can experience the process visually and then afterwards the marks will be left in the studio space indefinitely... quite like Judd's sculptures.
